A Horde Against the Lord

There are times in life when we feel we are up against unmeasurable odds.

The cards are stacked against us. No one gives us a chance. The outlook is dim. The dawn can come none to soon.

And then we remember, the fight is not our own. We are children of the King. The battle is his for the taking and the victory his to claim.

King Asa of Judah faced an enemy of more than 1 million men and 300 chariots. At best he could face his foe with 580,000 courageous warriors. Talk about being an underdog!

As the enemy advanced Asa cried out to God, ““O Lord, no one but you can help the powerless against the mighty! Help us, O Lord our God, for we trust in you alone. It is in your name that we have come against this vast horde. O Lord, you are our God; do not let mere men prevail against you!”

Asa turned to God in his darkest hour and God showed up! The Lord defeated the enemy and the victory was won!

We all face days when we just don’t know how we will make it through the day. Maybe it’s an illness, a broken relationship, a stack of bills, an unbearable job or a haunting addiction.

In times such as these, bend your knees and cry out to God. No, he is not a magician or puppet on a string. He is your daddy. He loves you despite your habits hurts and hangups. He will do what’s best. And when you trust him alone, don’t be surprised when the mighty things that seem to dominate your life flee as the powerless are taken care of by the king of kings!

Not even a horde can stand against the Lord. I want to be on his team!

He loves you. Take your burdens to the Lord. He never said life would be easy but he promises to walk with you and strengthen you every step of the way!
