Dark days

I would have loved to have met King David. He was the real deal. Nothing fake about the boy who became King. He was genuine through and through. He was transparent and honest with his thoughts and feelings.

When life seems dark, remember what the King remembered.

Take a glimpse inside the hurting heart of a world-class leader.

“Oh, that God would listen to me! When I was in deep trouble, I searched for the Lord. All night long I prayed, with hands lifted toward heaven, but my soul was not comforted. I think of God, and I moan, overwhelmed with longing for his help. You don’t let me sleep. I am too distressed even to pray! I think of the good old days, long since ended. (Psalm 77:1-5)

“But then I recall all you have done, O Lord; I remember your wonderful deeds of long ago. They are constantly in my thoughts. I cannot stop thinking about your mighty works.” (Psalm 77:11-12)

When life stinks, remember.

When life hurts, remember.

When life hits bottom, remember.

Even King David experienced deep trouble and dark days.

Answers didn’t come easy. Even still King David found comfort not in where he was but where he had been. Remembering helped him live another day and gain the strength he needed to make yet another memory.

Remember the past today, for tomorrow, today will be but a reflection of what was and is to come.
