Known yet loved

The following passage provides a rare glimpse into the heart and mind of God.

” … what should I do with you?” asks the Lord.

“For your love vanishes like the morning mist and disappears like dew in the sunlight…

… I want you to show love, not offer sacrifices. I want you to know me more than I want burnt offerings.” — Hosea 6:4,6

Amazingly, God desires to be loved and known. Notice he doesn’t want our things. “I want you to know me,” he says.

As humans, there is something so relatable about this statement. No wonder he says we are created in his image.

Who among us doesn’t want to be loved and known? We all come to learn that true happiness isn’t found in things. Love can’t be bought.

We are most alive, affirmed and content when we are completely known with all our faults and weaknesses, yet truly and deeply loved.

God loves us. The commandments were summed up by Jesus. Love God and love others. True love is to be truly known yet loved.

Ahhh, heavenly acceptance is so much richer than our things, sacrifices and penance.

To know him is to love him and to be be known and loved by him as well.

Do you know him? He wants to be known by you!
