Sink or swim?

I knew a guy once who invented some really neat things. He however was unable to admit he sometimes didn’t succeed. An engineer who worked with him said that if the inventor built a boat that took on water the inventor would have suggested he made it that way to keep the sailors busy. He had to be in control. When he wasn’t, he would circumvent. He was a master manipulator and passive aggressive. It was rooted in pride and manifested in ultimate disaster in the lives of those closest to him. I wonder if he is related to the captain of the Titanic? The image below is a good reminder of where living in denial can lead.
