The Stillness Prayer

Lord, the discipline of isolation continues to sustain us in solitary confinement as an unwelcomed threat lingers outside our doors.

We hope and pray for normalcy, strength and sanity as we come to grips with our new reality.

The more we wait, the less we know. Our strategy to out last our foe continues as we do our best to patiently wait and see. To ride out the storm as we hope this too shall pass.

For those prone to action and activity, these times are especially taxing. Even the most serene among us are growing restless.

Grant us peace and help us make the most of quiet days. Help us be still and know, as we reflect and consider who you are and the role we play in this story. May we be better for it as we have survived, of all things, the stillness.

Help us make the most of the time at hand and to seize it as a rare opportunity to do as we have never done before, to truly make the most of the time we’ve been given. May we see it as the gift it is.

We are in fact, doing time. May we do it well, Lord, as we sense you shaping our hearts and minds in the whispers of the everyday life we have come to know and embrace.

We look to you and lean on you for guidance and direction today and in days ahead. Lead us through it all.

– Ray
